Volunteer of the Year

2010 APSP Region 3 Volunteer of the Year

Noel Conley

The success of our region is largely dependent upon the generous donation of time and talent performed by our volunteers. APSP Region 3 has established its Volunteer of the Year Award to annually honor one outstanding volunteer who has made a significant impact within the region. Recipients of the Region 3 Volunteer of the Year Award have demonstrated exemplary leadership, consistency, willingness, reliability and spirit.

It is with great honor, that we present the 2010 Volunteer Leadership Award to Mr. Noel Conley.

Noel entered the industry as a student who planned to work his way through school at a mom and pop pool store until he found a “real job.” The industry was less willing to let Noel go- through chance or fate he continued to learn the ins and outs of the pool and spa business through opportunities after graduation. In 1995 Noel started his own venture, Miracle Pool Service, with “literally no customers and a truck.” Now Miracle Pool Service operates four trucks in the Garland area and services controls, heaters, filters and pumps.

Noel has said that he’s not looking to expand Miracle Pool Service. As president of the APSP North Texas Chapter and as an APSP Certified Service Provider, he has found plenty to occupy his time.

The North Texas Chapter is certainly Texas-sized, with over 85 members and a board that represents all industry segments. This year, Noel was determined to help the chapter stay on the forefront of licensing issues and education. Representatives from the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation were brought in to speak to chapter members about the new electrical code and what the license allows.

Under Noel’s direction, the North Texas chapter also hosts annual tech classes and builder classes, designed specifically to provide a government relations and education hub for all builders and service professionals in the area. Among leading efforts for the annual fundraising golf tournament, Region 3 design awards, government relations meetings, and the development of the relationship between APSP and IPSSA, Noel is also committed to finding print media in the area to promote APSP, its members and the industry.

When asked why he volunteers, Noel admits he was once the type of person “who complained that there wasn’t enough training or licensing for the industry and that people didn’t know anything.”

“I finally decided to get involved and try to make a difference instead,” he says. This is our way of thanking you Noel, for the positive changes you have made and will make for this industry in the future.
